about

First Album History

Intentional Harassment started under a bridge by North Salem High School near downtown Salem, Oregon USA around the middle of the year 2010. They started with Serious Sam and Joedozer when they wrote the song 'Gutter Punks' underneath that bridge with Serious Sam jamming on his acoustic guitar and the both of them singing out loud. With more other material written by Serious Sam, a new revolutionary sounding hardcore punkrock band would rise up to become one of Salem's greats. The band played under a couple different unofficial names until late 2011 when the name 'Intentional Harassment' was decided as the official band name. The name is inspired by a criminal charge called 'intentional harassment,' a charge that someone can get in the country of Great Britain for purposely harassing people.

In August 2010 Pistol Pete would be acquired into the band after he made an unannounced visit to the house where Joedozer and Serious Sam were staying at to visit someone else. They were jamming at the time when Pistol Pete got there. When they took a break from jamming, Pistol Pete picked up Sam's guitar and played it really fast and good. Serious Sam and Joedozer were immediately interested, and recruited him as bass player. Before Pistol Pete could jam with them for the first time, the band played their first show ever in downtown Salem, Oregon at the Wasteland on August 20th, 2010 with old-skool punkrock legends Millions Of Dead Cops. It was just Serious Sam on guitar, with him and Joedozer doing vocals, and an unknown fill-in on drums performing only a short 3-song set.

In the humble gutter beginnings of the band, they started with almost nothing. As Pistol Pete began jamming with Serious Sam and Joedozer in late August 2010, equipment was still very crude. They
still had no drummer for the next 4 months and had to settle with using a drum machine at band practice. Finally in December of 2010, drummer Auzzy was acquired to complete the first band line up. A short time after Auzzy's arrival to the band, Joedozer would become inactive from the band. Joedozer's main vocal duties were relegated to Serious Sam while Pistol Pete would emphasize on back up vocals.

After 4 months and playing their second and third shows ever, in April 2011 Serious Sam was thrown in jail over some trumped up charges. He soon got out of jail on probation later the same month, but then drummer Auzzy quit the band. They could not find a replacement drummer for the next 2 months and would end up having to cancel a string of upcoming Salem local shows. Then in June 2011 Goddamn Kyle auditioned for the band and he was found to be a good fit so he was hired as the replacement drummer. By the end of the next month the band was back playing shows again through most of the rest of the year including their first out-of-town shows. They also would play a number of shows in 2011 with Sam as a fugitive from the law, running from his probation officer. He eventually got caught and did some jail time in late 2011, but after that he would stay out of trouble for the next two years.

By November 2011 the band had made some significant equipment upgrades and started to do their own recordings. The first seven recordings they made had really shitty sound quality and they included the song 'Curbstomp' here on this album. Further advancements in their recording technique were made by the end of December 2011 and they made their first clean recording, the song 'Punkrock Family' on this album. Also during this time, certain circumstances led them to deciding 'Intentional Harassment' as the official band name. In January of 2012, six of those shitty recordings they made in November 2011 were re-recorded plus a new song 'Breaking Bones' was recorded. Joedozer would become active in the band again doing back up vocals with Pistol Pete on five of those recordings and on the 'Breaking Bones' recording.

After Feburay 2012, the band recorded six more songs for this album through the rest of the year. Joedozer would do back up vocals on three of those songs. Also this was an active year for the band playing shows. Joedozer would also do back up vocals for them at most of their shows through 2012. However, by the end of the year, Joedozer's would become inactive from the band again, for indefinitely this time, being absent from their shows from late 2012 and beyond.

It was a less active year for playing shows in 2013 as the band focused to continue work on this album, including a lot of production work done on the songs that were recorded from Febuary to December of 2012. Those seven songs they recorded back in January 2012 were also to be included on this album with four of those songs being remixed through the year 2013, and one of those songs, 'Let Me Out' on this album, was re-recorded around sping of 2013. After their mixer was repaired when it completely exploded into a full fury of flamming sparks during a band practice in September 2013, they would go on to record a final version of 'Fuck The F.B.I.' from November to December of 2013 to finally complete the recording of this album.

In 2014 they played only two shows, one including another Salem local show with old skool punkrock legends Millions Of Dead Cops at Duffys Hanger in January of 2014. They would suffer numerous equipment breakdowns all year long in 2014 which delayed progress in all aspects of the band, including the release of this album. Their main mixer board spent the entire summer of 2014 sitting in a repair shop until the decision was made to replace it by late in the year. Serious Sam would suffer more problems with the law and did several stints in jail through 2014. While they worked to fix their shit, they started their own record label 'Harassment Studios' in mid-2014 to represent their band, which paved the way for the release of this album.
